Zhangjiagang holds green development symposium

A symposium on green development in the Yangtze River economic zone was held in Zhangjiagang on Nov 9.
Wang Yiming, deputy secretary-general of the National Development and Reform Commission; Xu Meijian, vice-mayor of Suzhou; and Zhangjiagang municipal authorities attended the event.
At the seminar, Xu voiced his wish for Zhangjiagang to promote an ecological, low-carbon and sustainable economic development pattern; upgrade the transportation system; and make more contributions to the development of the Yangtze River economic zone.
Zhu Lifan, mayor of Zhangjiagang, addressed that the city will focus on industrial transformation, ecological civilization, resource conservation and green agriculture.
During the symposium, other attendees also delivered keynote reports with topics on the development of the Yangtze River economic zone, green development theory and economic transformation, port economy and regional cooperation, and integration and innovation of the customs clearance system in the Yangtze River economic zone.
As one of the economic events of the 2014 Yangtze River Culture and Art Festival, it was co-sponsored by the Jiangsu Academy of Macroeconomic Research and the Society of Zhangjiagang Development Research.
